Artist: Lochlan J Farr

Lochlan J Farr is a local Brisbane artist. His previous single 'Bella" and his vocals and regular performances in the band "to the skies" put him on the local map. His vocal range and his multi instrumentalist talents (playing drums, guitar, piano) combined with his musical expression style suggest he would fit nicely within the pop rock genre of music.

His previous work was his participation in a duo with now DJ Corey Hartas called Lo Co Madness. This was a group he was a part of during high school and a few years out before their eventual decision to split after a failed audition with Australia's got Talent. This did not discourage them from music however they have chosen very different paths with Corey a now successful DJ HardCorey and Lochlan joining forces with some local friends to start a band. His new single "wildfire" is due for release this December.

Embodiment of Track: Wildfire

Wildfire follows a relationship between to people at the stage where the loving relationship goes from a new romance to the moment that it becomes a serious commitment. The feel of the track is likened to a warm embrace and the vocal and accompaniment of the acoustic guitar is what emphasises this feel to the song. The intention of the song is to feel that the artist is singing directly to you.

Arrangement:

Acoustic guitar playing both the rhythmic and melodic lines creates the backbone that drives the song. The vocals within the verses and especially in the choruses is supportive of the guitar melodic line and shares the spotlight. The average tempo is 165 throughout the song.

Sonic Content and production:

The electronic enhancements that were used in production include band EQ 7 and some reverb, and sans amp was used on the vocal section where it gets too loud and overcrowded with the artists energy.

Subjective Feel:

Warm, bright, laid back track that follows a journey of the moment that a new love becomes a serious love.

Objective feel:

reverb, compression, EQ band 1, wet vs dry dynamics, the song overall is 70% towards dry and as close to the original sound at the recording, however some effects were used to tidy up the vocal in some sections.

Final thoughts:

As this project process is new to me as an audio engineer the outcome of the song has had mixed reviews from people within both mine and the artists inner circle. However we are still happy for a release of the song late this december (2018) with a video release sometime next year.
